
Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor
Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor is a distinguished consultant cardiologist and Chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Nigeria. He is a professor of cardiovascular medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, at Rivers State University. He holds an MBBS, a Master’s degree in Medicine from the University of the Free State, South Africa, and a PhD in Occupational Health and Safety Studies. He also has certifications in management (Nigeria Institute of Management) and theology (Redeemed Bible College). Prof. Alikor is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), the College of Nuclear Physicians of South Africa (FCNPSA), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), among others. He is also a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) and the Nigerian Institute of Management. A passionate researcher, he has contributed extensively to cardiovascular medicine, nuclear cardiology, and occupational health. He played a pioneering role in establishing the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and served as Head of Internal Medicine at RSUTH. Prof. Alikor has held various leadership roles, including Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Rivers State, and Secretary-General of the Nigerian Cardiac Society. In 2025, he was appointed Co-Chairman of the National Nuclear Medicine Technical Working Group. He also serves as an external assessor, examiner, and accreditation team member for Nigerian universities and medical institutions. Beyond medicine, Prof. Alikor is a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He is married to Dr. Oroma Alikor, and they have four children. His career exemplifies excellence in medicine, leadership, and service to humanity.
